In a historic moment in Philippine television, two industry titans came together as GMA Network and ABS-CBN ink a deal for the airing of movies from Star Cinema.
The two television networks sealed the deal in a virtual contract signing ceremony on April 5.
This new partnership will see Star Cinema movies air in GMA Network's local channels beginning this April.
GMA President and COO Gilberto "Jimmy" R. Duavit Jr. expressed happiness over the deal that will benefit more Filipino viewers.
"Echoing what I heard on the AVP earlier, 'ang dating impossible,' that resonated simply because over the years we've both sat across different partners, different individuals, formalizing partnerships. But there was one that was always missing, something that many believe was not possible nor probable. We're very pleased because the significance of our partnership today ushers in the possibilities of a far broader set of conversations, potential partnerships, and cooperation that will have the benefit, not only mutually to GMA and ABS-CBN, perhaps more importantly, to the benefit of the public we both serve, the Filipino viewer," he explained.
Aside from this, Mr. Duavit is also glad to have broken the proverbial ice between the two networks.
"Since we have, as they say, broken the ice, there is great optimism that these conversations will continue or start and continue. We look forward to the possibility of this type of opportunity again, moving forward. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. It is a very significant day for both of us and for the Filipino viewer, maging Kapuso or Kapamilya man," he continued.
Some of the movies to watch for which will air soon are Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's Crazy Beautiful You, family drama film Seven Sundays, and global blockbuster hit Hello, Love, Goodbye.
