GMA Now is a mobile digital TV receiver that can be plugged into an Android device and allows you to watch live TV on the go for free.

It is a thumb drive-sized dongle will give you access to GMA, GMA News TV, Heart of Asia, Hallypop, Dep-Ed TV, and all available free-to-air digital channels in your location and will be able to catch all your favorite Kapuso shows anytime and anywhere.

According to GMA New Media Inc. President and COO Mr. Dennis Augusto Caharian, the device was developed with the changing habits of viewers in mind.

"What we've noticed recently, based on our internal data, is that a lot of people are starting to consume video through their mobile phones. Since this was done through the internet, this came with a cost," he explained in a virtual media conference.

He and his team also took into consideration the daily routine of GMA's audience.

"We were also thinking about certain circumstances at present. Number one, the traffic is really getting worse. Your time at home, that's pushed later than the start of primetime when most of our high-rating programs are actually showcased. A lot of people actually miss our shows, given that they're stuck in traffic. Also the growing sectors such as the BPO (business process outsourcing). This also requires them to be outside their homes during primetime," he explains.

GMA Now also comes equipped with many interactive features which will allow you to stream GMA videos, play interactive games, and chat with your friends and get show updates on Groupee.

"If you would notice, we've sort of combined television with an app with the intention of knowing our audiences better, being able to serve them better," he says.

According to Caharian, this was inspired by how audiences consume media.

"During the pandemic, we've seen Netflix parties. I've seen my daughter listening to Spotify together with her friends. I think the consumption of media, particularly for the young, is getting a little bit social. I think everything is getting social with how we consume things especially online," he shares.

"That's why we allowed our audiences, in this particular case, those who are watching GMA, to be able to interact with their friends, chat and also be able to participate in in-show promos, in-show games," he adds.
