“Golden,” a fan-favorite track from the Netflix animated hit K-Pop Demon Hunters, is officially in the running at the Oscars after landing a spot on the Best Original Song shortlist.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that just 15 songs made the cut for the 98th Academy Awards, trimmed down from 65 eligible entries. The shortlist and eventual nominees are chosen by members of the Academy's Music Branch.
With the competition narrowing, “Golden” now edges closer to a possible Oscars nomination.
“Golden” is brought to life by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who perform the track as the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x in KPop Demon Hunters.
The song also proved to be a major hit earlier this year, topping the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 back in August.
