Legend has it that the broad cold lagoon is the child of a powerful sultan back in the day. The sultan and his wife were said to be arrogant leaders which caused a goddess to curse their child and make her look ugly. Tin-ag, the child, grew up inside a cave because her parents wanted to keep her hidden.

When the child grew up, she went outside of the cave and was amazed by the beauty of nature. Later on, the goddess who cursed her offered to change her appearance into a great beauty and was turned into the “Hidden Falls.”

Although the story is purely a legend, many people believed it and have sparked curiosity among tourists. This made the Tinago Falls the most visited waterfalls in Iligan.
