Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day does a cover version of 'That Thing You Do!' as a tribute to Adam Schlesinger who died of COVID-19.
Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong uploaded a cover version of hit song 'That Thing You Do!' as a tribute to Fountains of Wayne member Adam Schlesinger who died of COVID-19 last April 1.
Schlesinger wrote the song for 1996 film "That Thing You Do!" which earned him an Oscar nomination.
The film told the story of a fictional one-hit-wonder band in the '60s and was written and directed by Tom Hanks.
Armstrong posted the cover on Green Day's official channel as part of his 'No Fun Mondays' series where he does cover songs weekly.
"Another week, another No Fun Mondays. Today's song is a tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger and the incredible music he wrote including this one, 'That Thing You Do,'" the video description reads.
