Gretchen Barretto discusses her decision to quit social media and the realizations that came with it.
Gretchen Barretto has shared her reasons for quitting social media.
Gretchen discussed these with Dr. Aivee Teo when she visited her clinic for treatment.
Dr. Aivee asked Gretchen, "Is life better without social media?"
Gretchen answered. "I believe so."
"I have freedom to do what I want, to do with all sincerity. I don't do things out of wanting to show people."

Upon quitting social media, Gretchen realized the sincerity of others.
"I feel people more because I also feel their sincerity. When you give me something it's because you know it's what I want, it's not the value that you're giving me because you know she's gonna post it. Everyone's gonna see it."
Gretchen's decision has made her realize the things that she values the most.
She said, "When I dress now, I dress for myself and not for the public. You don't feel pressured to overspend because you feel like you have to show off. It's more real. I didn't know that then, but now I know it."
Gretchen mentioned that she felt peaceful after she decided to disconnect from the online world.

"There's more peace because I don't have to keep on checking on Instagram what's this person doing, and what's going on. I am more productive, I can do things that are more important to me rather than what's important to show."
Dr. Aivee also asked how Gretchen stays relevant in the digital age.
Gretchen confidently answered, "I am relevant. With social media or not."
She continued, "It's not something that you can just erase because you don't have social media. In fact, I believe I am more relevant because people don't know where I am and what I am doing."
Gretchen shared her priorities and learnings without social media.
"I am in a different world now, I can let go. You have to let go of what does not serve you anymore."
She added, "You have to count your blessings. I just want to live in the moment and enjoy the moment and the people who really matter."
