Eric Dane diagnosed with ALS

American actor Eric Dane reveals to have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a fatal motor neuron disease.

Netizens were shocked after Grey's Anatomy alum Eric Dane shared a personal health update with the public.

The American actor disclosed he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive and fatal motor neuron disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The condition causes muscle weakness, loss of motor function, and, in severe cases, difficulties in breathing.

There's no cure yet for this degenerative disease, but symptoms can be managed through medications, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more.

"I have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” he shared in an exclusive report by People.

Despite the gravity of his diagnosis, the beloved Euphoria star stays strong and continues his work.

"I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time," he added.

Eric Dane is known as one of the actors in the medical drama series Grey's Anatomy (2006). He played the role of Dr. Mark Sloan, also nicknamed as McSteamy.

In addition, he also starred in several hit series and films such as Euphoria (2019), Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), The Last Ship (2014), Burlesque (2010), Marley & Me (2008), and Charmed (2003).
