The medical fight continues for Grey's Anatomy alum Eric Dane as he faces amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Recently, the American actor traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet U.S. House Representative Eric Swalwell of California to discussed the urgent need for progress in the battle against ALS.
The official later shared a clip of their conversation on TikTok, showing the actor in a wheelchair but determined to fight the illness.
“So often, it takes all this time for these people to be diagnosed. Well, then it precludes them from being a part of these clinical trials,” the actor explained. “That's why ACT for ALS is so, so great, and it's because it broadens the access for everybody.”
Officials assured the actor that continuous medical efforts may soon bring good news.
Despite his condition, Eric remains hopeful about the future.
"I want to ring every bell," he said. "I have two daughters at home. I want to see them graduate college, get married, maybe even have grandkids. You know I want to be there for all that so I'm going to fight until the last breath on this one."
In his post, Eric Swalwell also expressed gratitude for meeting the actor and representatives of the nonprofit I AM ALS organization.
"From investing in innovative treatments to ensuring access to quality care, we must do more to support patients, families, and researchers," he wrote.
Fans quickly flooded the comment section with prayers and words of encouragement. Though many also expressed concern over the actor's current state and wished him strength in his ongoing battle.
@swalwelleric It was an honor to meet with @iamalsorg and my friend @realericdane to discuss the urgent need for progress in the fight against ALS. From investing in innovative treatments to ensuring access to quality care, we must do more to support patients, families, and researchers.

Last April, Eric Dane disclosed to the poublic that he was diagnosed with ALS - a progressive and fatal motor neuron disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
The condition causes muscle weakness, loss of motor function, and, in severe cases, difficulties in breathing. There's no cure yet for this degenerative disease, but symptoms can be managed through medications, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more.
Eric is known for his former role in the medical drama series Grey's Anatomy (2006). He played the role of Dr. Mark Sloan, also nicknamed as "McSteamy".
In addition, he also starred in several hit series and films such as Euphoria (2019), Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), The Last Ship (2014), Burlesque (2010), Marley & Me (2008), and Charmed (2003).
