Emmy-nominated actress Sandra Oh recently received an honorary doctorate from Dartmouth College.
On Instagram, Sandra proudly shared the milestone along with photos of her delivering the 2025 commencement speech.
"A Dr. for real reals!! (Okay, honorary)," she captioned the post. “Thank you [Dartmouth College] for letting me dance it out with the Dartmouth Grads of '25 and the privilege of giving this year's commencement speech.”
Her speech paid homage to her beloved character Dr. Cristina Yang, blending humor, vulnerability, and wisdom.
Sandra reflected on personal growth, the power of silence, and leaning into discomfort. “Nothing has taught me more than being with discomfort,” she stated. “It can be our greatest learning opportunity. And it is also inevitable,” she mentioned.
With honesty, the actress admitted about never attending university but "only played characters who have."
"So thank you for helping fulfill my parents' dream of me actually getting a degree. And a doctorate at that! I know it's honorary," she added.
Sandra portrayed Dr. Cristina Yang, the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery, from 2005 to 2014. Her performance remains one of the most loved characters in Grey's Anatomy, now on its 21st season.
