Bettinna Carlos and Gummy

Gummy's reason for working out with mom Bettinna Carlos? “It's because we are the stewards of the body so we have to take good care of it.”

For a ten-year-old, Bettinna Carlos's daughter, Gummy is getting into the fitness train by joining her mom in promoting health and wellness in their latest vlog.

On YouTube, the mother-daughter duo shared that their main motivator for exercising is all because of a Bible verse that states, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Bettinna explained, “Isa sa mga nais kong ituro sa anak ko is, bata pa lang ay dapat she values taking care of her body -- the overall health and wellness which includes fitness.

“I observed that, if we keep doing good things in front of our children and encouraging them, mapi-pick up nila 'yun eventually. We really need to become models for our children.”

Gummy added, “Its because we are the stewards of our body and we have to take good care of it. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.”

The single mom reiterated that their main purpose was not for vanity reasons but for her to live a longer, healthier life to serve her family.

“Our main motivation for working out is because we know that our bodies are not our own. Biniyayaan tayo ng katawan, kaya alagaan natin 'to in the best way we can.

“It's good for you, it's good for your health. It helps you to be stronger so you can help your family longer. And three, it sets a good example for your children,” she said.

The 32-year-old Bettinna also recalled that doing anything physical with her body has always been ingrained to her since childhood.

“When I became a mom, nag-transform 'yung motivation ko to no longer want to look good or be fit. It's a normal human desire.

“Pero beyond that, it's so that I'll be strong and healthy so I can play with my child. Para useful ako at hindi ako iika-ika. As a single parent, us moms we have to take care of our bodies.

“Kung ang motivation mo is to be strong, and that mindset na hindi mo katawan 'to because God blessed us with abled bodies and good health, nararapat lang we take good care of it, feed it properly, give it proper rest.

“I really pray na gusto n'yo rin ang pag-e-exercise, not for vanity reasons, but internally.”
