Filipino singer Gwyn Dorado has taken the Korean music scene by storm, advancing to the final Top 4 of 'Sing Again 4' with record-breaking scores

Filipino singer Gwyn Dorado delivered another breakthrough moment on JTBC's popular singing competition Sing Again 4, advancing to the final top 4 after topping the round with the highest score. Performing under the alias Contestant No. 59, Gwyn's compelling stage presence and vocal strength set her apart, earning her first place and a coveted spot in the finals.

Designed as a platform for artists seeking a fresh start, Sing Again 4 showcases singers ready to reclaim the spotlight. The season began with 81 hopefuls, but only four remained by the time the 12th episode aired on December 30, making Gwyn's achievement a standout milestone in the competitive Korean music scene.

The remaining seven contenders, Gwyn was among them, took the stage to perform freshly produced songs created especially for the round. Each performance was carefully assessed, putting both artistry and audience connection to the test.

Scoring was determined through a combined evaluation system, with judges accounting for 70 percent of the results and audience votes making up the remaining 30 percent. Each singer could earn a maximum of 1,000 points, with judges contributing scores based on an eight-member panel using a 100-point scale. Audience members, meanwhile, cast their votes by selecting the O or X buttons during each performance.

The judges are Lim Jae-beom, Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young, Kim Eana, Kyuhyun of Super Junior, Taeyeon of Girls' Generation, Lee Hae-ri, and Code Kunst.

Gwyn took on the song “I Want You,” produced by Kim Do-hoon, delivering a performance that once again left a strong impression on the panel. Her controlled vocals and confident stage presence stood out, earning praise from the judges.

Judge Baek Ji-young highlighted Dorado's vocal skill, saying, “And actually, if you just keep singing high notes and then suddenly drop down to mid-low notes, your throat gets a little tired. But Gwyn didn't feel that at all. So it was really amazing.” The remark underscored how effortlessly Gwyn handled the technical demands of the song.

When the judges' scores were announced, Gwyn received a perfect 100 from all but one judge. Super Junior member Kyuhyun gave her a score of 98, while Lim Jae-beom, Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young, Kim Eana, Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, Lee Hae-ri, and Code Kunst all awarded her perfect scores.

In total, Gwyn earned 798 out of 800 points from the eight judges—the highest judges' score achieved by any contestant across the show's four seasons. Reacting to the results, emcee and actor Lee Seung-gi remarked, “Wow, this looks like the highest score in season history.”

Once audience votes were added to the judges' scores, the final top 4 contestants were announced, with Gwyn emerging in first place after earning an impressive total score of 981. She topped both categories, receiving a weighted judges' score of 698 and a weighted audience score of 283.

Joining Gwyn in the final round are Lee O-wook with 954 points, Kim Jae-min with 918 points, and Slowly with 840 points. Overcome with emotion, Gwyn broke down in tears when her name was called as one of the finalists. “I'm really so happy and what I'm looking forward to is, my family is really excited for the final, and this is exciting, tears of joy,” she shared.

The four finalists will face off in the 13th and final episode airing on January 6, where the ultimate winner will be decided. Each contestant will perform a brand-new song from a producer as well as a self-selected cover. The finalists' new songs will be released on Korean music streaming platforms at 6 p.m. KST on December 31, with streaming data from Melon and Genie counted until 11:59 p.m. on January 4 and factored into the final results.

The overall ranking will be determined through a combined scoring system: 20 percent from the first round's new song performance, 30 percent from the final judges' scores, 10 percent from online pre-voting, and 40 percent from real-time text and online votes. The winner of Sing Again 4 will be announced in the January 6 finale and will receive a cash prize of 300 million won, or approximately $208,477.

Gwyn has also shared her gratitude online, "Hi everyone! Sing Again journey has been a wild ride and it's about to be even wilder. I've always taken the ballad genre path since I've started Sing Again but I want to end it with a new side of me as to show a new beginning. It's been tough being confident with this new side of me but thanks to Producer Groovy Room for helping me find my groove. Now, I'm ready to show it. This is "Light Up". I hope you like this new song as much as I do. Thank you for supporting me all the way until this round. Lastly, I hope this song lights up your new year! Happy New Year everyone!"

Before her success on the Korean stage, Gwyn had already made waves internationally at a young age. She was just ten years old when she became a finalist on Asia's Got Talent (AGT) in 2015, competing in Singapore and capturing the attention of audiences across the region.

Gwyn finished among the top five contestants in the competition, sharing the spotlight with fellow Filipinos who also impressed on the global stage. Shadow play group El Gamma Penumbra went on to win the grand prize, while soprano Gerphil Flores placed third, making the season a strong showing for the Philippines.
