The 21st Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television declared Sis as the year’s Best Celebrity Talk Show.
“We’re happy that they took notice of almost seven years of Sis” says actress-host Gelli de Belen, expressing her sincere gratitude after the 21st Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television declared their show as the year’s Best Celebrity Talk Show. “We’re happy that they took notice of everyone’s efforts” adds her sister Janice. Lim After six years of funny experiences, interesting discussions and revelations, Janice, Gelli and Carmina Villaroel’s morning talk show has indeed become part of many viewers’ daily routine. Winning an award was not the end-goal for these women though, as what mattered to them was pleasing their supporters the best way they know. Being recognized for a thing they loved to do, in fact, is only a bonus. “When I found out na nanalo ng award 'yung Sis, naging happy ako for them (Janice and Gelli) kasi they started na silang dalawa lang” Carmina shares. Joining them during the show’s third year, the de Belen’s soul sister says “mas naging happy ako kasi nakikita ko kung pa’no sila nag-start, tapos nandyan pa rin 'yung buong team. Tapos hanggang ngayon going strong. Parang ang sarap lang ng feeling.” Success Secrets Going strong for six years is not small feat for a talk show, and the hosts have their personal secrets to keep their show successful. “Basta kami, ine-enjoy lang namin” Carmina readily replies. “Ang gusto lang naman namin ay makapag-entertain. Saka hindi naman namin kine-claim na kami ay nagpapaka-diva and all that. It’s [just] a happy show” she explains. The sisters believe that being the naturally happy people they are helps in sustaining their energetic show. “Kasi importante 'yun na happy person ka” Carmina says. “I guess, kaming tatlo, we’re not scared to make fun of each other and to make fun of ourselves” Janice adds. “Hindi namin sineseryoso masyado 'yung mga sarili namin” Gelli furthers. This, in fact, is evident in their daily morning show where they act so naturally and lightly. Carmina then cites an example to Gelli’s claim: “[In the show] kung meron mang konting palpak, dinadaan namin sa patawa o kami na mismo 'yung pumupuna.” No Pressure Friends on and off cam, an undeniable chemistry exists between these three women. In fact, Carmina says they don’t always need words to express what they feel. “Body language pa lang [nagkakaintindihan na kami]” she discloses. “[At] nagsasaluhan na [kami]” Janice adds. With three sanguine personalities working together for one show, viewers are treated with all the fun they deserve everyday. Meeting twice a week to tape their episode, the three also admit they get the best treats of their lives whenever they are together. “Mas naging close kami” Gelli affirms. “And we are more allowed to be ourselves” says Janice. This is also the reason why they do not feel any pressure even after finally winning such a prestigious award. “Eto [na] kami, what you see is what you get” Carmina says. “On or off camera eto kami” Janice supplies. She continues, “I think the more [that] you put the pressure in your head, the more na hindi ka makakagawa ng tama.” “Ang hirap kasi mag-pretend na super sweet ka tapos hindi ka naman pala ganun sa totoong buhay” Carmina agrees. “Ako, personally ha, o siguro kaming tatlo, never naman naming nilagay sa ulo namin na ‘Oh my gosh, everyday 'yung show namin kailangan ganito. Kailangan ganito kapag lumalabas kami, kailangan ganito…eeeek! Nakakapagod 'yun eh. Imagine-in mo off cam para ka pa ring uma-acting? Nakakaloka 'yun 'di ba?” she animatedly explains. The Sis-ters give everyone a good reason to keep watching their show. “If you want to be happy in the morning, [watch us]” Gelli says with a laugh. “At hindi lang happy ah!” Carmina gushes in. “Kung gusto n’yo pang makakita ng magaganda, uy!” she chuckles. “Kasi 'yung mga guests natin magaganda, syempre bonus na lang tayo!” Catch the Sis-ters weekdays in GMA, and tell other people what you think about them in the forums.
