Convicted rapist and former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for the coronavirus while in prison, according to US reports.
Harvey, who was taken into custody last February 24th for raping a woman, was reported to have tested positive by the Niagara Gazette.
According to the article, the producer is receiving treatment and is in isolation at Wende Correctional Facility in Western New York.
“There is no breeding ground for this virus than a closed environment such as a correctional facility,” said Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA).
Mr. Michael Powers said he learned that the test came back positive on Sunday morning (US Time) and is concerned about the corrections officers, who he said lack proper protective equipment.

Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison on March 11 for sexually assaulting production assistant Mimi Haleyi and raping Jessica Mann, a onetime aspiring actress.
His conviction was hailed as a victory for the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct by powerful men.
More than 100 women, including famous actresses, have accused Harvey of sexual misconduct stretching back decades. Despite the conviction, Harvey has denied all allegations saying any sex was consensual.
