Chie Filomeno on body shaming: 'It'll never be okay'

Former It's Showtime talent Chie Filomeno struck a chord with many netizens when she reposted her 2018 post about the negative effects of body shaming comments.
The GirlTrends member has previously defended herself from harsh criticisms about her looks and her decision to get a cosmetic enhancement.
Chie posted six years ago that body shaming should stop and instead focus on boosting each other.
“We live in a society that demands so much from us, you have to be this, you have to be that well in fact you just have to be this, you have to be that well in fact you just have to be YOU!”
“How sad that there are so many cruel people in this amazing universe, and that some girls are bringing each other down when we should be the one[s] lifting each other up.
“Body shaming is not okay, it'll never be okay. Not ever. Body shaming needs to stop!”
She ended her post by saying, “We are all beautiful! No body is a tragedy. And don't ever let anyone shame you for being you.”
Several celebrities also positively reacted to her beautiful reminder including Sparkle beauty queen Celeste Cortesi and Encantadia star Iza Calzado.
Last July, Chie also had to defend her brother Rio from an insensitive comment from a netizen asking him if he also got a nose job.
Chie responded calmly to the netizen by saying, “Nope, natural na natural 'yan."
