Miss Universe Argentina and Miss Universe India test positive for the coronavirus disease.

Even before flying to Florida, USA, two Miss Universe pageant candidates tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

These candidates are Miss Universe Argentina Alina Luz Akselrad and Miss Universe India Adline Castelino.

On their respective Instagram accounts, the candidates share that despite taking the extra precaution to curb the virus, they are not immune from it and ask for their fans' prayers for their quick recovery so they may compete in the upcoming competition.

Argentinian beauty queen Alina Luz Akselrad said, “My parents are at risk, my sister is a medical staff, and because of the love we have for each other, we are taking great care of ourselves.

“We always carried out my projects with protocol measures, for me and out of respect for my loved ones.”

She continued, “Unfortunately, despite taking care of ourselves, it can happen to us, and it happened to us!

"Although we are very sad, it is not the time to look for the guilty… Although, inevitably, I've been trying to figure out where and when that instance may have been.”

Alina said her mother might have gotten the virus in a supermarket after queuing at the checkout counter with a man who was “coughing, his mask wrong, and with his nose out.”

Taking the precaution, her whole family went on self-isolation and, several days later, exhibited symptoms of the virus.

She then asked her supporters, “My dear Argentines, I only ask God to take care of me and allow me to get out of this with more force than ever. I know that everything happens for a reason.

“Let's work as a team. It is the only way that we will win against coronavirus. The Universe awaits us! Today, I need you more than ever.”

Similarly, Indian model and beauty queen Adline Castelino also exhibited flu-like symptoms and later found out that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement released on her personal Instagram account, Adline mentioned she had quarantined herself and is currently taking precautions to get better.

She urged those whom she had contact with to get themselves tested and added, “I will fight my way through this, until then I request you all to wear your masks and follow government protocols. Stay safe!”

Earlier this year, Miss Universe Malaysia Francisca Luhong James also contracted the virus but has since recovered and is now on her way to compete for the coveted crown.

With the addition of the two candidates, that totals to three Miss Universe beauty queens who have tested positive from the coronavirus.

Philippine-bet Rabiya Mateo is already in Florida to compete in the preliminary competition for the 69th Miss Universe pageant.

The coronation night will be held on May 17, 2021, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at 8:00 AM Manila Time.
