The band said Chris was asked to rest due to a “serious lung infection.”

Coldplay has announced the postponement of their upcoming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil due to Chris Martin's serious lung infection.

In an Instagram post, the band said their frontman was “put under strict doctor's orders to rest for the next three weeks” due to the diagnosis.

The band, who's behind the hit songs “The Scientist,” “Paradise,” and “Fix You,” also apologized to their fans.

“To everyone in Brazil who was looking forward to these concerts, we're extremely sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience, and we're so grateful for your understanding at this challenging time where we need to prioritise Chris' health,” Coldplay wrote.

“We're optimistic that Chris will return to good health after the prescribed medical break and look forward to resuming the tour as soon as possible,” the band added.

Coldplay said they are working to lock in and announce the new dates of the postponed shows, which will happen in early 2023.

"Please hold onto your tickets as they will be valid for the new rescheduled dates. These will happen in early 2023 and will be announced very soon,” they noted.

“To everyone affected, please accept our sincere apologies, and thank you as always for your love and support,” the band concluded.
