Actress and global fashion and style icon Heart Evangelista shared this on Thursday during the program Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, reminiscing about her past relationship with the actor and noting how young they both were at the time.
Looking back at their six years together, Heart realized that what she shared with John was less about true romance and more about the “brutal” reality of two teenagers growing up in the spotlight.
“Looking back and when I saw him again, I realized that I think I dethroned him by giving him the title of first love kasi pinaiyak niya 'ko ah,” Heart said.
“Brutal kami sa isa't isa, so inisip ko, hindi naman 'yun pagmamahal kasi parang brutal kami na ano. Kasi we grew up together, six years of my life. From 13 to 20, 19 kami 'yung loveteam eh,” she continued.
The fashion icon admitted that it was difficult to distinguish between their professional partnership and their actual feelings for each other back then
Heart also continued by sharing that she was actually the one who introduced John to his now-wife, Isabel Oli, and helped bring them together.
“Nag-uusap pa lang sila and nag-te-taping kami together ni Isabel Oli, and pini-pair ko sila,” said Heart.
She also confirmed that a reunion for the hit '90s teen show G-Mik isn't on the table right now, as the former co-stars Angelica Panganiban and John Prats haven't sat down to discuss it.
“Never ko talaga naisip 'yon until sa dumating siguro 'yung moment na nag-reconnect kami nila Angelica [Panganiban], nila John,” sabi ng aktres. “Malay natin, you never know,” she shared.
The former loveteam made headlines this March after being spotted together for a quick photo op, marking a rare public moment for the duo.
“Missy and Yuan forever. 02.02.02 iykyk @johnprats,” Heart wrote in the caption.
In the iconic teen series G-Mik, Heart and John captured hearts as Missy and Yuan, the “boy next door meets sweet girl” duo whose onscreen chemistry defined a generation of Filipino youth media during the '90s.
