Heart Evangelista joined the family of the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago yesterday at the Quezon Service Cross awarding ceremony where the later is the sixth person and first female awardee.

In her recent post, Heart shared Senator Miriam's award through and commemorated her life and work.

She wrote, “Honoring my Tita Miriam. Yesterday, she was awarded with the Quezon Service Cross, the highest civilian distinction one can ever receive from the government. Only six people have ever been given this honor, and Tita Miriam is the first woman to receive it.”

“Truly, there is no one more deserving of this award than Tita Miriam. She was a brave and brilliant woman of service, who lovingly dedicated whole her life to others - to her family, friends, and to the country. We love you, Tita Miriam. Your legacy lives on.”

Senator Miriam passed away in 2016 after her battle with lung cancer.
