Kapuso primetime actress Heart Evangelista was among those who witnessed the posthumous awarding of the Quezon Service Cross to the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago in Malacanañg yesterday, December 3. The awarding was conferred by President Rodrigo Duterte himself.

The feisty lawmaker died on September 29, 2016, after her two-year battle with lung cancer. Senator Santiago is the only female recipient of the country's highest civilian service honor. The award was received by Santiago's widower, Atty. Narciso Santiago Jr.
