Let's be real, it's no secret that a person becomes extra attractive with a genuine happy smile. However, there are some people who prefer it with their lips pursed. Why? Well, it's a secret they prefer to hide from the world - yellowish teeth.

GMA Lifestyle had a talk with the ever-so-fashionable Heart Evangelista, where she bared one of her former insecurities: her teeth.

“For a time, I was really getting so conscious about my teeth,” she said during her contract signing with Perfect Smile held at Manila House in Bonifacio Global City.

As a coffee-lover, Heart explained that her teeth would often get stained or even yellowish.

“They would get so stained because I drink a lot of coffee, so nagiging yellowish 'yung teeth ko.

“In fact, I would even cover my mouth when I laugh,” she confessed.

Now, how did the Kapuso star achieve a pearly white teeth?

According to the Queen of Creative Collaborations, “It's really all about finding a product that would work for you.”

Without the need to limit her coffee indulgence, Heart recently added teeth whitening products to her lifestyle.

Along with that, here are some essential tips from WebMD on maintaining white and healthy teeth.

• Limit consumption of drinks that can stain your teeth like coffee, tea, and red wine. In cases you still wish to consume such beverages, consider using a straw so that the liquid bypasses your front teeth.
• Avoid smoking as it can also cause teeth discoloration.
• Brush or rinse immediately after having your teeth exposed to stain-causing products.
• Follow good oral hygiene practices like brushing, flossing, and rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash.
• Opt for a whitening toothpaste, if needed, to remove surface stains and prevent yellowing. Otherwise, use a regular toothpaste the rest of the time.
• Consider touch-up treatments.
