Heart Evangelista on helping others anonymously: "My points in heaven are far more important."

Actress and global fashion icon Heart Evangelista shared her feelings after comedian Ate Gay expressed gratitude for the help she had extended to him.

In a previous interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, Ate Gay described Heart as a kind person who provides him with monthly assistance. He also shared the story of how he and the actress first got in touch.

“Napakabuti ni ma'am Heart,” Ate Gay said. “Tumawag 'yung personal assistant niya kay RJ, manager ni Allan K. 'Tapos ayon, nag-connect na kami. Tapos monthly na po akong binibiyayaan."

Heart admitted she was shocked when Ate Gay identified her as his benefactor, noting that they had yet to meet in person.

“Actually, nagulat ako na binanggit niya. Kasi we've never met like after, and never kami nag-usap talaga,” Heart said during her interview on the same program on Thursday, April 9.

She clarified that their initial interaction actually happened through her staff, “'Yung sinabi niyang nag-usap kami; kausap niya 'yung assistant ko. After that, kinausap niya ako, gusto niya lang magpasalamat, pero 'di niya alam na ako 'yun.

“For me, it's sad, but I've not given so much thought to it, but there's always gonna be color in whatever we do as public people,” she continued.

The fashion icon further explained why she prefers to keep her charity private, admitting she was stunned that the news came out.

“My points in heaven are far more important. One day, this can be a backtrack of how I was at a specific time. Life is too short, mas importante sa akin 'yung points ko sa heaven. So, nagulat ako na sinabi niya,” Heart explained.

Heart also spoke candidly about her lifestyle and how being primarily responsible for herself allows her to help those in need.

“Of course, like what I said, thankful ako na wala akong binubuhay na pamilya talaga. Okay naman ang mga magulang. May anak ako, pero technically, 'yung responsibilidad ko talaga 'yung sarili ko e, lahat ng mayroon ako,” she said.

Despite her initial hesitation about the gesture being made public, Heart expressed a sincere appreciation for the rare moment of recognition from the comedian.

“Really, I do what I do, because I have my own goals in life, and I felt uncomfortable na sinabi niya. Pero salamat din kasi iba rin pala marinig na nagpapasalamat sa'yo 'yung tao,” Heart said.

She continued, “Kasi, most of the time, people don't really know it's me, so I really appreciate that. In fact, never ko nga na-confirm sa kanya na ako 'yun.”

Closing her statement with a reflection on her lasting impact, Heart shared that her hard work is driven by a desire to leave behind a meaningful legacy: “I work hard not just for me, but for a purpose, and for me to write a story that would be so great to read one day when I'm no longer here.”

Beyond her support for Ate Gay, Heart remains dedicated to her advocacies, focusing on providing assistance to children, those with medical conditions, and abandoned senior citizens.
