In the fifth "Adulting with Chiz" installment on Heart Evangelista's YouTube Channel, the couple talked about money, prenuptial agreements, age gaps, and toxic family members.
The couple indirectly revealed they have a prenup for their wedding. Heart said having a prenup doesn't mean you won't share finances or help each other out within the marriage.
"Hindi naman siya 'yung tipong swapang kayong dalawa, you guys help each other pa rin," she said.
Chiz agreed and said he will still try to share his money-saving tips to Heart even if they had no prenup and were only responsible for their own money. "Kahit naman wala tayong pre-nup, I'll still say the same things."
Heart shared why a prenup is a wise choice for them, "Nung kinasal kami, ang dami kong anak--may mga aso ako. Siya rin meron siyang anak. So komplikado."
The actress also revealed why having an older partner works well for her.
Heart recalled, "I read the book Memoirs of Geisha when I was young, and I don't know if that messed me up in a way. But I was always looking for someone older than me, who can save me from my troubles. And I just felt so good talking to someone so dignified and with gravitas. Beautifully married tayo for six years."
Chiz also answered why he sometimes looks too serious, which can leave the impression of being snobbish or cold.
"May mga panahon talaga na may mga pasanin ka at binubuhat, may mga araw na talagang ayaw na kitang idamay, so ako na lang. Pero hindi ko kayang ngumiti at maging masaya sa lahat ng 'yon. Unless i-share ko sa'yo, kaso 'yung ngiti mo naman biglang babagsak sa kalungkutan."
He also admitted that having a huge age gap in marriage has its disadvantage, "By the time na mga 18 na 'yung anak natin...baka 71 na ako."
On the other hand, having a wide age gap helps them both widen their perspectives and become more open-minded. Chiz said, "In our case, you got to learn from my world and I got to learn about yours. There are a lot of pros naman."
Chiz also spoke up about how he handled Heart's parents' initial disapproval of their relationship and how he won their hearts eventually.
He said, "They're your parents, kung ayaw man nila ako noong mga panahong 'yun, hindi mo dapat ayawan sila. Ang kalaban ko hindi naman kailangan kalaban mo lalo na kung magulang mo.
"Because your life will be full of regret if something should happen to them. You mended [your relationship with them] ahead of time, and naalala mo nung niyaya mo ako, sabi ko, 'Sigurado ka ba?' I only had one condition, as if nothing happened."
Heart said, "Wala ng sorry sorry."
"Wala nang ganoon, lipas na rin 'yun," Chiz added.
Chiz also has advice on how to handle having toxic family members. "Get away from it all and do something about it. Get away from the shackles and chains. Learn how to handle your own money.
"At the end of the day, your parents and siblings will always be your parents and siblings. Find a way to get away from it--not to run away but to get away from that situation, without necessarily fighting or arguing. You have to stand your ground."
