When one turns his passion into something greater than just a business venture, he creates an arena for more people to enjoy it and excel in it.

This is what happens when Kapuso actor Rocco Nacino and his business partner Chris Tan organized Elorde Championship Boxing’s Heart of Champions.

At the weigh-in and press conference for Heart of Champions, Rocco shared with boxing enthusiasts and boxers what inspired them to come up with the event.

“We saw something in the fighters and we said na gusto namin makita ng mga tao ‘to. This should be shown to the public. People should watch this, these are quality fights,” Rocco revealed.

His business partner added, “We expect Elorde Championship Boxing to be a more entertaining type of fight. We’re gonna put a lot of fanfare into it. Kasi it’s not just a sport, it’s also form of entertainment. So sports entertainment, that’s the main focus that we’re gonna be doing.”

“Plus, we want to make it more youthful, more attractive for the youth kasi nga napansin namin the youth now parang hindi nila naiintindihan na boxing’s actually a very exciting sport to watch - a lot of knockouts, a lot of finishes, a lot of action. So we want to give back and show to the youth that as a Filipino, this is one of the main sports you can get into and you can enjoy and that we can actually excel in,” Chris concluded.

Heart of Champions is a WBC-sanctioned International Flyweight Championship.

Exchanging pounding hits and punches for the main event are reigning champion Renan “Little Pacquiao” Trongco and challenger Hayato Yamaguchi from Japan.

The action-packed bout will take place on September 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, at 4 p.m.
