Reformer Pilates has been Jennylyn Mercado's go-to workout for a few years now because of its proven health benefits.
Nurturing her physical well-being is one of her top priorities, so she makes sure to avoid skipping her favorite workout in her everyday routine as much as possible.
But due to her busy schedule, especially now she is regularly taping for StarStruck and Love You Two, Jennylyn found going to a Pilates studio tedious and time-consuming in itself. Plus, the cost of a gym membership fee comes in a great amount because of the additional services offered.
This led her to purchase her own Pilates reformer machine, a piece of equipment consisting of a sliding carriage outfitted with straps and springs that add resistance to the Pilates exercises, making it more intense and dynamic than mat-based Pilates.
Although the machine is pretty expensive, it does save her from the hassle. Therefore, it is definitely worth investing in and it lets her enjoy the ability to do Pilates anytime in the luxury of her own home.
One thing that made her fall in love with Pilates is it does not over-strain her muscles since most Pilates moves are very gentle and safe.
Developed in the early 20th century by German-American physical trainer Joseph Pilates, the physical fitness system aims to strengthen the core through precise ranges of motion which is ideal for sculpting abs and toning muscles as well as improving flexibility and stability of joints.
"High intensity and low impact siya so mas okay lalo na kung tumatanda na.
"Kailangan ingatan natin 'yung joints natin, flexibility, 'yung back.
"It's a combination of Yoga pero meron siyang machine.
"Ma-i-improve 'yung flexibility and posture mo," Jennylyn asserts.
