Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz remained in total disbelief after her glorious triumph in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and shared her grateful message, which began with the words “'Di Ako Makapaniwala.”
The Zamboanga native wrote, “'Di ako makapaniwala na nandito ako ngayon sa Olympics.”
“'Di ako makapaniwala na matutuloy ang Olympics.”
“Di ako makapaniwala na nandito ang TeamHD.”
“'Di ako makapaniwala na Gold Medalist ako sa Olympics.”
The 30-year-old Pinay athlete posted her photo on Instagram where she proudly wore the Philippines jersey with a game face on.
The professional weightlifter also expressed her gratitude to the Lord and everyone who helped in her journey to victory in the prestigious competition.
She continued in the caption: “Kung ako lang ito, di ko ito magagawa parang impossible.”
“Salamat God sa pagdala ng mga tao, government support, private support, pamilya, kaibigan, at prayer warriors para magawa ko ito at maging possible.”
Before ending her post, Hidilyn quoted a bible verse from Matthew 19:26 and wrote, “Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”
Former Beautiful Justice star Yasmien Kurdi replied to Hidilyn's heartwarming post and wrote, “Ang galing mo!!! Mabuhay ka! Congratulations.”
Dear Uge star Eugene Domingo also congratulated the professional weightlifter and commented, “Thank you!!! Mabuhay ka!!!”
Other local celebrities and personalities such as Ashley Ortega, Gretchen Ho, and Georgina Wilson also expressed their admiration and sent congratulatory messages for the Pinay athlete.
As of this writing, Hidilyn's heartfelt post has over 135,000 likes on the photo-sharing platform.
On July 26, Hidlyn Diaz bagged the gold medal in the women's 55kg weightlifting category, where she completed a lift of 224kg in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
