Sean Penn is known as much for his activism as he is for his acting, and in his latest tweet he's shown once again how committed he can be to a cause - this time for Ukraine and its ongoing conflict against Russia.

In his latest tweet, the Academy Award-winning actor revealed that he made the walk to the Polish border along with two colleagues after abandoning their car on the side of the road.

Sean Penn arrived in Ukraine four days ago to film a documentary about the conflict and since arriving he has been seen attending press briefings, meeting with government officials and journalists, as well as military personnel. Newsweek even quotes the actor as saying that the “soul of America” would be lost if Ukraine was left to fight alone.

Aside from Sean Penn, other celebrities that have expressed support or discussed the conflict in Ukraine include Michael Douglas, Lady Gaga, Andrew Garfield, and Brian Cox. These declarations were made during the recently held Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Ukrainian celebrities are also getting involved, with former Miss Grand Ukraine Anastasia Lenna training to join the conflict.

In her Instagram Stories, the beauty queen posted a clip of what looks to be her training with a gun, with the caption “Training. The invaders will die on our land! All world see this!”

Anastasia's journey from beauty queen to a soldier is not the first one to happen, as other titleholders in other parts of the world have also joined their armed forces. Here in the Philippines, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez is a part of the country's Philippine Navy Reserve Unit, with the rank of sergeant.
