In the latest episode of Mikael Daez and Megan Young's podcast, '#BehindRelationshipGoals,' the celebrity couple talk about how they handle their money as a married couple.
There, Mikael and Megan shared their unique system when it comes to their income and expenses which they came up with through open communication.
While some married couples have three bank accounts--two for their individual savings and one as their joint account--Mikael and Megan revealed that they only have two accounts, one for Mikael and the other for Megan.
According to Mikael, they use his bank account to pay for credit card bills, groceries, household expenses, and other miscellaneous purchases. Meaning, they use Mikael's earnings for their daily expenses and needs.
Meanwhile, Megan's account holds all the income with almost zero withdrawals or expenses.
Other couples may find their system quite shocking, however Mikael explains that their way has two major perks they enjoy.
"That is the basic system that we've had and we've been doing this for four years already, around four years.--Medyo sanay na talaga kami sa ganitong sistema.
"Now the reasons, the very first one is organization and clarity. It's so much easier to reconcile expenses if it's coming from one account. If it's a handful of expenses, ang dali lang i-transfer. Sobrang hirap kung madami akong expenses, si Boneezy (Megan) madaming expenses. I'm like 'Oh my gosh.'
"Here's another thing, when we do this, I don't discriminate. It doesn't matter if I spent it or she spent it, it doesn't matter if Boneezy's expenses were 90% of the [bill]. Basta pasok sa budget, okay lang 'yan. We don't stay 'You spent this much dapat I can spend this much.' Walang competition.
"All expenses come from my account and Boneezy, all her income goes to her account and there's almost zero expenses.
"Second [perk] is good vibes. Imagine you have an account na walang lumalabas na pera, puro income lang? And sometimes you forget about it because there are some months I just look at my account kasi that's the only active account out there and all the checks just passively and automatically go into Bonez's account. So when we look back into Bonez's account, we're like 'Oh My God!' Andaming na save kasi walang expenses doon sa account na 'yon. Para sa amin, may psychological effect rin siya na ansaya rin sa feeling.
"There are times na bumabagsak talaga 'yung pera sa account ko especially when there are times na there are no work or walang pumapasok na pera or mahirap 'yung collections, but whenever we look at Boneezy's account, 'Ay sarap naman. Okay tayo, okay pa tayo.'
"I think those two are the most prominent motivations for using this style of finance, so organization and clarity and good vibes," Mikael said.
