
Alcohol is a requisite for a fun celebration. There's no denying because it is the life of the party - it's an indulgence that everyone enjoys and it brings people closer.
However, we should always keep in mind that excessive intake of it can cause alcohol-related liver diseases. We are always reminded to drink moderately, but how much is OK?
Good thing, Pinoy MD made a guide about the proper amount of alcohol consumption for the coming festivities.
Considering you are a healthy person and hypothetically wants to drink every day, here are the suitable amount you should maintain:
One 12 oz. glass for women while two 12 oz. glasses for men.
One 5 oz. glass for women while two 5 oz. glasses for men.
One 1.5 oz. glass for women while two 1.5 oz. glasses for men.
“Ang pagkakaiba ng babae sa lalaki ay: ang lalaki ay mas madaming alcohol dehydrogenase. Mas mabilis ang breakdown ng alcohol sa mga lalaki, sa tiyan palang nagbe-breakdown na ang alcohol. Ang mga babae, sa atay lang yung alcohol dehydrogenase,” said Dr. Angela Salvana, Hepatologist and Endocrinologist.
However, for those who are already sickly, experts recommend maintaining a glass per day or none at all.
“The more alcohol you drink, the greater the damage to your liver,” Salvana added.
