GMANetwork.com went straight to the source and asked Barbie Forteza's personal stylist, Eldzs Mejia for tips on how to get the Kapuso actress' look!.Read on!
Celebrity stylist Eldzs Mejia has been working with known celebrities left and right for quite some time now.
In fact, his roster includes dressing up stars like Catriona Gray, Glaiza de Castro, and more importantly, our Kapuso Artist of the Month Barbie Forteza.
As the name suggests, Barbie's aesthetic when it comes to fashion is very girly and effortless that's why a lot of BarbieNatics (her fandom name) often ask how to achieve her style.
So, we spoke with Eldzs himself to get an idea on how to achieve and be always in vogue like Barbie.
Tip #1 Go for classics
“She's a super classy girl,” Eldzs says.
“Lalo na may pangalan siyang Barbie kaya 'di maiiwasan na maging girly siya.”
To achieve the Barbie Forteza look, he suggests going for feminine dresses that have the right fit.
“Kung may different categories of dressing up, Barbie is the type of girl who will wear A-line and very feminine dresses.
“Fit is key for petite girls like Barbie.
“Kaya importante na hindi loose, hindi baggy, at hindi masyadong malaki sa katawan kasi the body will look smaller.”
Tip #2 Don't be afraid of colors and play with different styles
As a girly girl, you will seldom see Barbie wearing an all-black ensemble or neutral colors on screen.
Eldzs remarks, “She's playful and daring when it comes to colors.
“You will also see some ruffles kasi she likes to play around with her style minsan.”
If you're clueless when it comes to mixing and matching colors, Eldzs suggest starting with the basics like going for monochromes - the same color but of different shades.
But when you're feeling a bit adventurous, use the primary colors red, blue, and yellow to serve as your guide. In case you don't remember from your art class, these three hues help create every other color (red plus blue makes purple, yellow plus blue makes green, and so on.)
“These tones look great color-blocked - meaning one color as your top and the other as your bottom.”

Tip #3 Go for the right bottoms
Because of Barbie's petite frame, Eldzs emphasizes how clothes can give the right illusion when you get the right cut - including your bottoms.
For petite girls, it's best “to go for high-waisted bottoms or going for flared bottoms.”
“Okay pa rin naman ang mag-skinny jeans pero, I think, mas okay ang may konting flare sa bottom or at least hindi siya naka-cut sa may ankle part so you'll look longer and it elongates your body more.”
Tip #4 Nude shoes
Speaking of illusion, a pair of nude heels or shoes give the appearance of longer legs so invest in a great pair.
“If you don't prefer wearing heels, okay rin kung mag-suot ng platforms.
“But when it comes to heels, doon pumapasok na 'yung illusion na nagagawa ng nude pumps.
Aside from the appearance of longer-looking limbs, nudes are very timeless as it's very easy to match and is suitable for any occasion. Plus, it's a neutral tone that will look great on any skin tone.
Tip #5 Take a cue from your idols
If you're a fan of Barbie, then you will know that she adores Taylor Swift. So much so that she sometimes screenshots the looks of the American singer-songwriter to serve as her outfit pegs.
Eldzs confesses, “Mga peg namin lagi mga Taylor Swift kasi Swiftie siya eh. So if you want to dress up like Barbie, take a cue from Taylor Swift.
“She's very classic and very feminine. You'll never see her sloppy because she will make sure na from head to toe malinis siya tingnan and always very prim and proper.”
If you're afraid to step away from your comfort zone, draw inspiration from a few of your favorite celebs' style. More or less they've already established what looks good on them and it might look good on you too. Plus they already have tried and tested formulas that'll definitely make you look like a star by the time you head out the door.
