Mother's Day is a special occasion we love to celebrate with our family. Most of us may be used to making reservations at a fancy restaurant, buying that luxury item your mom has been always putting off for herself, or planning a trip or a bonding activity.
This might not be the case this year as we find ourselves in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this crisis is not an excuse not to celebrate.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Mavy Legaspi and Cassy Legapi gave five simple suggestions on how to keep Mother's Day fun and meaningful.
Moms have always been the busy bees in the kitchen, but it's nice to treat them like royalty this time by serving their favorite food.
Cassy says, “It's your turn to cook for your mom. Give her a super good meal, or her favorite food, snack.”
Mother's Day is a good opportunity to let your mom catch up on her favorite show or discover a new film.
Mavy suggests, “[Have a] movie night or manood kayo ng mga teleserye together. Mag-bonding kayo."
Mavy and Cassy suggest to slow down and listen to your mom's stories.
Mavy further explains, “Importante siguro is give your time to your mom during Mother's Day most especially, and every other day. I mean they're your parents, both your mom and dad. So give time. Give time for them, listen to what they have to say, mga kuwento nila, mga story nila, what they have to vent.
“Kasi sometimes, you know, I feel like that's what our parents also need e. Kumbaga they also need to vent about their current situation, 'yung stress nila so be the helping hand, be the listening ear to them.”
Give your mom a good beauty rest and take on her responsibilities at home.
Mavy says it best, “Do chores. Do chores for your mom. Sabihin mo, 'Ma, relax ka lang diyan. Ako na bahala maglinis ng banyo, ng room mo, ng living room, ng kitchen, ng kung ano-ano.”
Mavy and Cassy also emphasize not to dwell on material things and instead be more personal in expressing your love and appreciation for your mom.
Cassy suggests, “Mag-set-up kayo ng party or something. Just gather your family together. And 'yun nga what he said, write a letter, make cards, and just give it to your mom. She will celebrate it. Just celebrate everything that your mom does for you.”
These are just a few ideas Mavy and Cassy thought of to celebrate Mother's Day, but the Legaspi twins also remind that these are things you can do for your mom and even your dad every single day.
Happy Mother's Day, mga Kapuso!
