British actor Hugh Grant revealed in an interview that he and his wife, Anna Eberstein, have contracted COVID-19 in February this year.
In a chat with Stephen Colbert, the 60-year-old actor confided the frightening symptoms that he felt months ago.
“It was like a poncho of sweat, embarrassing really. Then my eyeballs felt about three sizes too big and this feeling as though some enormous man was sitting on my chest, sort of Harvey Weinstein or someone,” he told The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Harvey Weinstein is the American film producer who was convicted for sex crimes. Incidentally, the former producer tested positive for the virus last March though he didn't show any symptoms.
“I was walking down the street one day and I thought, I can't smell a damn thing and you start to panic because by then people have just started to talk about this as a symptom and I started sniffing flowers--nothing. And you get more and more desperate,” Hugh narrated.
The actor went on to say that he started “sniffing flowers, garbage cans” and even “sprayed” his wife's perfume directly into his face out of panic.
He and his wife now are showing no signs of the disease after undergoing an antibodies test recently.
Hugh, who is currently staying in London, is known for the films Notting Hill, Music and Lyrics, and Four Weddings and a Funeral, where he won a Golden Globe Best Actor award in 1995.
