Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin for Smart

As it turns out, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin were already a couple during their shoot for SMART!

After being hailed as endorsers last year due to Crash Landing On You's overflowing popularity, reel-to-real life couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are back to bring the kilig as they are once again the face of SMART Communication's latest “Unstoppable 5G” campaign.

It can be recalled that the telecommunications company brought the kilig during this month of love when they unveiled the newest advertisement showing the #BinJin in one frame.

In a virtual press conference, SMART's SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business Jane J. Basas shared that the new television advert was never part of their plan.

She said, “Only Hyun Bin was part of the original plan for SMART. As you can remember, he was our first endorser, but we listened to the customers because they clamored to have Son Ye-jin, too.

“But when we brought her in, there was again a clamor to have them together in one TVC.”

To bring this to fruition, the telco went as far as renewing the contracts of both Korean drama actors to deliver their promise to fans.

She said, “This particular TVC is part of a second contract already. We already renewed their contract because we wanted to deliver the promise to have the two actors in one campaign.

“Will we see them together? It really depends on their schedule and how available they are. But they still owe us a visit in the Philippines as part of their contracts.”

Jane Basas also revealed that the couple had already confirmed their relationship when they shot the campaign; that's why the set was already full of kilig and #BinJin shippers.

“We shot the TVC on January 12, and I think the news was announced on January 1! Who would've thought!

"We have another TVC featuring the two coming up real soon so watch out for that,” she remarked.

To bring the extra kilig to the advert, OPM artist Ben&Ben was brought in to write an original song titled “Inevitable” to be featured in the campaign.

In the same press event, singer Paolo Guico shared, “We're all big fans of 'Crash Landing on You.' Like most Filipinos, that's how we started the quarantine, so it was actually not hard to work on the song.

“The message we wanted to convey in general is that no matter how hard it may seem, the great things that are bound to come are inevitable -- it speaks about your love life, career, family, finances. We want to share that no matter how hard life can hit us, keep being real, true, and good people and take things one day at a time. Because the good things are inevitable.”

Guitarist Poch Barretto added, “The song also tells the story of two contrasting feelings working together that is inevitable. That is one process that we worked on.

“We were really excited 'cause Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are going to be in the TVC. We had the whole idea for the song, concept, and the couple in mind.”
