In a recent episode of I Juander, hosts and veteran journalists Susan Enriquez and Mark Salazar uncover the inspiration behind this famous TikToker's fan-favorite horror content. With 2.4 million followers on her TikTok account, Bianca Mallorca is a famous content creator on the platform with a niche for everything spooky.

The dubbed Horror Queen of TikTok filled her page with numerous horror scenes that reach millions of views. But what is it about her content that makes it so consumable for the Filipino audience? Is it the execution? The length of each? The engaging storytelling? Or the relatable story themselves?

According to Bianca, the stories she roleplays are based on real-life events. Some are tales from her friends and neighbors but she isn't also exempted from these thrilling experiences. Bianca had her fair share of horrors. There was a time in her life when she saw a pair of slippers on the floor slowly moving near her and she almost felt like she's losing her mind.

In the very same house, Bianca's twin sister Bea also experienced a horrifying moment. Bea saw her twin walking around the house and called on her. When Bianca didn't respond and continued to walk inside a room, Bea followed her until she reached the very same room and realized her sister wasn't there. Bianca was instead sleeping in the other room.

Dr. Joan Mae Perez-Rifareal, a psychiatrist, explains, “Usually 'pag nasa hyper arousal tayo na state because of the fear mas nagiging imaginative, sometimes may nape-perceive tayo. Perception sa ating five senses na may nakikita, naririnig, nafi-feel, or parang naaamoy na posible naman talagang wala doon. But it's more of heightened ang perception natin pag tayo po ay nasa state ng takot or extreme fear.”

Whether Bianca and Bea were imagining things or not, the two felt a sense of fear from their experiences. And that genuine fear made Bianca's content all the more frightening for her viewers. The sense of reality in her stories, knowing they have been experienced by others, is in itself scary already.
