Singer Ice Seguerra's latest song couldn't have come at a better time.
The song “Wag Kang Aalis” was penned by the singer-songwriter during a melancholic period in his life.
“Sobrang personal nitong kanta na 'to sa akin. Nasulat ko 'to during one of my low moments. As a depressive person, minsan ang hirap sabihin ng mga nararamdaman ko especially at that moment when I need help the most,” said Ice about the song.
“This song is about that. The feelings we want to share and the words we want to say, but cannot.”
Curiously, and despite the circumstances, the song brims with love and hope.
“Wag Kang Aalis” talks about how someone can help make life tolerable by simply being there, staying by your side through thick and thin.
On Instagram, Ice shared how he was overcome with emotions when he sang the song for the first time to his wife Liza Diño.
“When I was writing this song, nilabas ko lang yung mga bagay na hindi ko masabi when I am going through my episodes. It was my hope that this song will help people as much as it helped me.”
Ice hopes that the song will provide comfort and hope to listeners who are currently going through a rough patch and those on the verge of giving up.
Fittingly, “Wag Kang Aalis” is currently the banner song for the Department of Health's campaign for Mental Health Month, which is observed in the Philippines every October.
Ice Seguerra's “Wag Kang Aalis” is now streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Youtube, and Spotify.
