Ice Seguerra and Liza Diño have accepted that having a biological child together may no longer be part of their journey after years of considering in vitro fertilization (IVF).

In an interview on i-Listen with Kara David, Ice opened up about the couple's long-discussed plan to start a family and why they ultimately decided not to pursue IVF further.

"2013 pa lang, I asked her that, 'Would you be willing to have a baby?'" Ice recalled.

"So that was the plan, she said yes. [That was] 2013 tapos na-move ng na-move kasi feeling namin bata pa kami, 2016 was the time we both entered the government. She was very, very busy."

According to Ice, their busy schedules repeatedly delayed the process. By the time they were able to begin IVF preparations, age had already become a significant factor.

"At 35 years old, that was the time I had my eggs harvested, tatlo lang nakuha sa akin," he said.

Ice added that they also explored the possibility of undergoing IVF abroad, but their commitments in government made it difficult to leave the country.

"It wasn't something you could just do overnight."

After years of postponements, the couple eventually realized it was time to let go of their original plan.

"Na-move ng na-move, nandito na rin kami sa point na I'm 43, she's 45, I don't think it's wise [to continue IVF]. We already have one [child], we have Amara who's already 18.

After years of delays, Ice said he and Liza have come to terms with the possibility that having a biological child through IVF may no longer be part of their journey.

"Siguro that's something that's not for us, in this lifetime."

Despite not having a biological child together, Ice said he and Liza already consider themselves blessed with a family through Amara, Liza's daughter from her first marriage.

"Yes, sa first marriage niya. When we first got together, she was only three. Oo naman. And we're very proud of her."

Ice also reflected on the bond he has built with Amara over the years, sharing that he never pressured her to call him "Dad" because her biological father remained an active presence in her life.

"Ang ganda rin ng naging journey namin ng daughter ko kasi from 'Ate' ang tawag niya sa akin. Then she called me Baba."

"Sabi ko sa sarili ko noon, I will not impose. Kasi her dad, who's in the States, is very much involved. It's something that shouldn't be imposed."

One day, however, Amara surprised him with a question that became one of the most meaningful moments in their relationship.

"Biglang out of the blue, nasa kotse yata kami, sabi niya, 'Baba, can I just call you Dad?'"

"Pa-nonchalant lang ako, pero sa loob loob ko, yay!"

Ice also shared that he is grateful his parents were able to experience being grandparents to Amara.

"Nakakatuwa kasi naabutan pa rin ni Mommy and Daddy na nandiyan si Amara. So Amara had moments with my parents na na-feel nila na may apo sila."

Ice Seguerra's mother is Caridad "Mommy Caring" Yamson-Seguerra. She was 84 years old when she passed away in June 2025. Her father is the late Decoroso "Dick" Seguerra. He passed away in November 2020 at the age of 77.
