Bukod kay Rabiya Mateo, may ilan pang Miss Universe candidates ang ibinida ang obra ng mga Pinoy designer sa prestihiyosong beauty pageant.

Kabilang sa kanila ay si Miss Universe Canada Nova Stevens na ang renowned Filipino designer na si Michael Cinco ang napiling lumikha ng kanyang gowns at Miss Universe Belize Iris Salguero naman ay irarampa ang obra ng isa pang Pinoy designer na si Jian Lasala.

“I presented five designs and then the fifth design…you know random thoughts are from the Lord and then that was the design that was chosen. Imagine all the colors of the sea in one gown,” pahayag ni Jian.

Kwento pa ni designer, “Iris Salguero already visited the Philippines. She competed at Miss Earth and also competed with Catriona Gray in Miss World 2016 and she also competed with Karen Ibasco in 2017 so, sabi ng pageant fans parang daw siyang lucky charm ng Philippines. Sana sila ni Rabiya mag-Top 3 together.”

Samantala, para naman sa preliminary evening gown competition sa 69th Miss Universe, ang Dubai-based designer na si Furne One ang lumikha ng isinuot ni Rabiya.

“The designer prepared at least four options. We asked her to wear it and kung saan siya mas confident, 'yun 'yung susuotin niya 'yung for the finals night.

“Simple but it's glamorous and I think it will really showcase her walk. The color complements her skin,” lahad ni Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup nang makapanayam ng 24 Oras.

Ngayong idinaos na ang preliminary evening gown at swimsuit competition, inirampa na ni Rabiya ang ipinagmamalaki niyang yellow evening gown.
