Amidst rumors that Cesca Litton and Tyke Kalaw’s wedding was bumped off in favor of Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero’s wedding, the Kapuso bride-to-be remained composed and understanding.

“With all the stress the other party is going through, I just wanna wish you well. Let’s all be happy because we’re getting married to the man of our dreams” she said in an interview on Startalk.

“Congratulations! Again, I’m very sorry for the confusion. Sana ma-settle nila ‘yung problem with Balesin. And I’m very sorry again,” she continued.

Heart further clarified they checked the reservations in Balesin if there might be a wedding already scheduled on their preferred date.

“When we were planning it out tapos sinabi namin sa wedding coordinator and the other people that were there na we were thinking of (February) 14, 15 ganyan sa Balesin. Sinabi sa amin, ‘I think that there’s a wedding that’s being planned on the 14th sa Balesin’,” she shared.

“Sabi ko, ‘Uy, doublecheck natin kasi kung may wedding, iba tayo’,” she explained.

They were told there was no other reservation or booking set on the same date, but the news that Cesca and Tyke’s wedding was bumped off in their favor had reached Heart the following day.

She tried to reach out to let her fellow bride-to-be since she and Chiz haven’t finalized anything as of the time.

“I asked two of our common friends to call her. Sinabi ko na, ‘You know we haven’t booked anything. Wala kaming final dates, it’s still very soft.’ Kumbaga, I was very open na sa kanya na lang yung 14 kasi baka ma-stress pa siya,” she said.

Airing her side

While Heart admits having bashers is something public figures like her deal with regularly, she couldn’t ignore the rumors.

“Normal na sa amin ‘yung mga bashing, ganyan. But I really called because I wanted to give her courtesy. Para hindi na rin siya ma-stress. We could’ve talked,” Heart said.

Heart wasn’t able to talk to Cesca directly but she was informed that the other couple is already looking for a new venue for their wedding.

Heart was however told, “But she cannot stop her bridesmaids to bash us.”

The confusion

Reports of the Balesin mix-up started on August 31 when a friend of Cesca posted on Facebook: “Wow, my friend’s tediously planned Balesin wedding was just bumped off because a celebrity-politician couple wanted theirs on the same day. Wtf Bobby Ongpin and Alphaland?! Yes I’m calling you out, this is so not cool!!”

On September 2, news confirmed that the couple whose wedding got bumped off was Cesca Litton and Tyke Kalaw.

Alphaland Corporation Chairman Roberto Ongpin, who also developed Balesin, issued a statement shortly after.

He claimed he personally invited Heart and Sen. Chiz, whom he considered good friends, to celebrate their wedding at Balesin after the power couple returned from their Euro trip.

His statement read, “I immediately checked with our Reservations people who told me that nobody had actually confirmed February 14 as of that time, so I told them to block it off. So, nobody has been bumped off’.”

He also said Balesin can accommodate more than one wedding “as long as the parties do not consist of a thousand people.”

Ongpin was in Europe when he issued his statement but mentioned, “it is a serious matter in which innocent people are being unfairly criticized, and in order to settle the issue once and for all.”

On Thursday, Cesca dismissed on Twitter that the matter was not about Heart and Sen. Chiz.

Her post read, “Before you start tweeting about my wedding, please verify facts. The issue here is not Heart nor Chiz, it’s the way Balesin handled it.”

“Every bride deserves her special day. No one needs bashing, judging, or unsolicited advice from people who know NOTHING of the situation,” she continued.

“I hope everyone moves on, because anyone who has planned a wedding knows how stressful it is. Be happy for them, for us. God bless you,” she concluded.
