IPOPHL Anti-piracy campaign

IPOPHL, with the support of GMA Network, continues to fight against piracy.

To continue fighting against piracy, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) launched the first-ever voluntary site-blocking mechanism.

According to the IPOPHL, this will help regulate and stop illegal websites providing movies, TV shows, and digital content. Not only that, but this will also help prevent individuals from illegally uploading or downloading content.

IPOPHL also revealed that the anti-piracy mechanism implemented was the first in Asia and the second in the world.

GMA Network, meanwhile, is also doing its part to spread awareness and fight against piracy. With some of its stars becoming anti-piracy ambassadors, the latest addition is Black Rider lead Ruru Madrid.

Back in April, GMA Network was recognized for its anti-piracy efforts at the 2023 Gawad Yamang Isip Awards and Fashion Night. This was in recognition of the network's efforts to contribute to the successful implementation of anti-piracy initiatives.

GMA International First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia expressed how grateful they are for the recognition, and promised full support to the efforts of IPOPHL against piracy.

“At GMA Network, we believe that respect for intellectual property rights is crucial in creating a vibrant and sustainable entertainment industry in the Philippines,” he said.

Aside from Ruru, other Kapuso stars who became ambassadors were Barbie Forteza, Voltes V: Legacy stars Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Matt Lozano, Radson Flores, and Raphael Landicho.
