JC de Vera gets comfortable with the dark side in the most awaited horror film of the year,
Tiyanaks.
Young actor JC de Vera has been very visible these days. Aside from his numerous appearances on the network’s different shows, he also currently stars in his own afternoon drama series, Pati ba Pintig ng Puso? . And as if this is not enough, he is also part of the most awaited horror film of the year, Tiyanaks.

Staring in the adaptation of the 1988 horror movie, “Tiyanak”,
JC plays Kerwin, the haughty and confident guy in the group of friends who dare play with evil spirits during Holy Week.
Kerwin is also in a love triangle with Christian (
Mark Herras ) and Rina (
Jennylyn Mercado ), and always tries hard to win Rina’s full attention.
JC finds it easy to portray his character as it was very much like the role he played in his first horror flick, White Lady, where he starred opposite
Pauleen Luna and Angelica Panganiban.
“Parang similar din sa first movie, na mayabang (‘yung character ko). Di naman ganoon ka-challenging pagdating sa acting, pero ang hirap ipakita sa camera na takot na takot ka” he says.

Personally, the actor thinks the scariest part of the movie is being stranded in the old, abandoned house in the middle of the woods. “Doon kasi lumabas lahat ng horror scenes eh” he discloses. And although JC is no longer a newcomer to the genre, he says he has never encountered any hair-raising or terrifying experience himself.
He attributes this to his strong faith. “Hindi ako nakaka-encounter ng mga ganoon. Kasi parang malakas ‘yung faith ko kaya siguro hindi ako pinapakiramdaman” he says, smiling. Yet he adds, with a rather uncomfortable laugh, “saka isa pa, if ever maka-encounter nga ako, eh sobrang matatakutin ako” he reveals.
Fear aside, JC says he already finds it comfortable doing movies like this. Another reason why he enjoyed working in the project is his good working relationship with the cast, whether they are from the Kapuso network or not, and crew.
“Maayos ang bonding (ng cast)” he shares. The joy he gets from participating in the movie is heightened by their youthful director, Mark A. Reyes. “I’ve worked with him before sa isang TV show sa GMA. Sa movie, it’s my first time (with him), pero masaya, kasi si Direk Mark groovy-groovy ‘yan, kumbaga, pa-bagets siya. (Naging) mas masaya ‘yung ginagawa namin kasi para siyang bata tapos sobrang bait pa” he remarks.
