“Everyday, I'm pressured by the amount of likes I have and the amount of comments.” Isabelle Daza revealed in a video she uploaded on her Instagram account.
In the video, Isabelle disclosed the effects of social media in our lives and in our mental health. According to Isabelle, “Right now I'm at a point in my life also where I have a bit of identity crisis. Social media is a big part of my work because I just had a baby and a lot of my life is out there on social media.”
Social media plays a vital role for most people these days as there is a struggle of wanting to share something special or keep things private especially to celebrities. She said, “I'm in this identity crisis where I wasn't hosting or acting. It's kind of like the lifeline I had to you guys. And when I became a mom, I kind of felt like what do I do? Do I give in and show my baby to everyone? Or do I kind of protect him?”
Isabelle disclosed that social media has this power to make people envious.
“Social media does that to you. It wants you to elicit this FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) in other people. It wants you to make them feel they're missing out and you're living your best life. In a way, it wants you to make other people jealous or envious. I constantly feel that way. When I look at myself even though I'm living what I would like to say happy life I still feel that jealousy and that envy. Social media puts that pressure on you. To kind of live a better life than someone else than others.”
Isabelle also acknowledged that her husband Adrien Semblat played a significant role in her life as he gives importance to authenticity. She said, “I'm lucky because my husband Adrien, he's a bit disconnected from social media. He says you have to be authentic to yourself.”
