
K-pop soloist IU is finally going back on screen as she is set to star with Lovely Runner leading man Byeon Woo-seok, reports confirmed.
Kakao Entertainment released the news last Monday, December 2, and said the two actors will pair up for MBC's romantic K-drama with the working title of Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
It is currently set to air in the second half of 2025.
According to reports, the drama is set in an “alternate version of Korea that is a constitutional monarchy” following the stories of Sung Hee Joo (IU) and Lee Ahn (Byeon Woo-seok).
IU's character, Sung Hee Joo, is a “chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status.”

She will portray the story of a second daughter of the biggest conglomerate in Korea who will cross paths with Prince Lee Ahn who also faces the same situation.
Soompi noted that Byeon Woo-seok's role, Lee Ah, is “a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.”

Wife of a 21st Century Prince will be IU and Byeon Woo-seok's reunion work after nine years.
They previously worked in the phenomenal 2016 K-drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo where Byeon Woo-seok appeared in a cameo role as IU's cheating boyfriend.
