South Korean singer-actress IU has postponed her upcoming September concert and delayed the release of her sixth full-length album as she focuses on recovering from a worsening ear condition.

In a heartfelt message to fans on the communication platform Berriz, IU revealed that her long-term patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction has recently become more severe, making it difficult for her to perform at her usual level.

“The concert that had been scheduled for this September at Goyang Stadium will unfortunately not be able to go ahead,” she wrote.

According to IU, the condition has become increasingly difficult to manage despite ongoing treatment.

“My ear condition has always had a mind of its own, getting better and worse whenever it wanted. But recently, the symptoms have been continuing day and night for several days at a time, and I've repeatedly found it difficult to perform at my usual condition when singing,” she shared.

Although she was able to finish recording the album by adjusting her sessions in the studio, IU said specialists advised her against holding concerts because of the physical demands of live performances.

“Concerts involve a lot of movement and a lot of sweating, and the specialists have advised that holding concerts would be too much for me, at least for the time being,” she explained.

As a result, IU also decided to postpone the release of her sixth studio album, which had been planned alongside the concert tour.

“As I mentioned earlier, my new album, which will be my 6th full-length album, was also planned around concerts and the tour as its main promotion. Since the album and the tour are inseparable, I'm afraid I'll also have to postpone the album's release,” she said.

The singer apologized to fans who had been looking forward to both projects and promised to focus on her recovery.

“I'll receive treatment, do everything I possibly can, focus completely on improving my condition during the second half of the year, and make sure that at the very least, we can start 2027 together,” IU said.

She also reassured fans that while her condition affects her ability to sing, it is not considered a serious illness.

“The illness I have isn't one that causes severe pain or makes daily life impossible. It's simply that, because my profession is being a singer, we've decided that this isn't the right condition for me to give audiences the best performances I can,” she wrote.

Despite the postponement, IU expressed excitement for the new music, saying the album features new genres, collaborators, and stories. She assured fans that the project has only been delayed by a few months and vowed to return with an even better comeback.

“I ask that you please wait just a little longer. I'll get better as quickly as I can and show you myself singing happily again,” she said.
