Kapuso viewers enjoyed a nostalgic Friday morning as a heartwarming reunion took place on the morning show Unang Hirit.
On July 3, the UH barkada treated viewers to a special recreation of the iconic opening spiel from GMA's 2005 documentary, Pinoy Abroad.
In the video, original host Ivan Mayrina happily recited the intro once again with his former co-host, Rhea Santos while in Vancouver, Canada.
Adding to the nostalgic moment, the Unang Hirit squad also had the chance to catch up with the pair, live on television.
"Ang nakakakilabot talaga noong na-realize namin kasi we started with GMA July 1st. Tapos kahapon, 'pag dating ni Ivan, sabi namin, 'Tagal na natin magkakilala no? Kelan ba tayo nag-start sa GMA?' Sabi pa nga niya June 1. Sabi ko, 'Hindi June 1, July 1.' Tapos July 1 kahapon. So it's been 26 years of pagkakaibigan o friendship working together," Rhea shared.
Meanwhile, the recreation of their Pinoy Abroad spiel began with Ivan wondering if they could still pull it off after so many years.
"Apparently, there are things that are so deep in you na indelible na siya, hindi mabubura," Ivan said, amazed at how it stuck to his memory.
Still receiving love from Kapuso viewers, Ivan and Rhea expressed their heartfelt gratitude.
"Noong dineliver ko 'yung lines, para akong dinala sa nakaraan. Ang saya-saya, simple lang. Of course, our travels naalala ko. Working with GMA, all the Kapuso. So maraming maraming salamat at patuloy n'yo pa rin pong sinusubaybayan," Rhea said.
"Thank you for staying with us. Nagkaroon kami ng magkahiwalay na path, ika nga, pero pareho po kaming okay, and thank you. Thank you for all your support," Ivan added.
Rhea previously reunited with the Unang Hirit family last February, when they shared a fun meal together.
Rhea was one of GMA's news anchors and hosts before moving to Canada with her family.
