New Chika Minute host Iya Villania felt she had some big shoes to fill in replacing Pia Guanio who delivered the entertainment news in 24 Oras for 11 years.

Iya revealed she initially got intimidated by the idea, saying, “I guess that’s why I was scared at first kasi I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into.”

She consulted Pia and asked her about the latter’s experiences, the scope of work and the expectations in hosting the showbiz segment. She also approached her for some advice.

Pia, who claimed to enjoy her long years with GMA News, was generous with words of encouragement for the new host.

Iya recalled Pia’s words, “‘Iya, there’s a reason why I stayed for 11 years.’ She just told me to have fun and she’s wishing me luck nga.”

“It’s nice to know that she’ll always be there. If I have any encounters na feeling ko kailangan ko ng advice or tulong, I feel that I’d be able to ask her,” she continued.

Iya started hosting the segment on June 15. She predicted her first week will be about whether she can measure up to people's expectations.

“‘Yung first week ko parang feeling ko ‘yun ‘yung kaba, ‘yun ‘yung pressure, ‘yung hawk eyes ng mga tao, waiting for me to make a mistake. Gusto ko lang makapag-settle in na para I can enjoy,” said the high-spirited host.
