In an Instagram post shared on January 20, Iza Calzado marked the birthday of her father, choreographer and director Lito Calzado. The post was accompanied by several throwback photos of Iza and her father, whom she refers to as “the OG,” during his lifetime.
She penned a touching message about her yearning, admitting how much she misses having him by her side in her daily life.
“Happy birthday in heaven to the OG. Daddy, I miss doing life with you so much,” Iza wrote in the caption.
She continued, “I wish I had more photos and videos of us—of you dancing, laughing, and doing what you loved most: living life to the fullest.”
Reflecting on his legacy, Iza described her father's life as 'beautiful and vibrant,' noting that he truly lived it to the fullest without holding back.
“You really lived it, tinodo mo talaga. I know you had a beautiful and vibrant life,” she wrote.
She also expressed her gratitude for her father's life, admitting she wished she could have made him feel her love even more while he was still alive.
“I'm so grateful for the gift of calling you my father. I just wish I had known how little time we had, sana mas naiparamdam ko pa sayo ang pagmamahal ko,” Iza said.
The actress also expressed gratitude to her late father, reflecting on the valuable life lessons he instilled in her, something she considers the “greatest gifts” she ever received from him.
“Thank you, Daddy, for showing me how to be an imperfectly perfect human, always putting your heart into everything you did,” said Iza.
“Because of you, I've learned to love deeply and have learned to have compassion for others and, more importantly, myself. That is one of the greatest gifts you gave me. Salamat,” she added.
In her tribute, Iza shared that she is still celebrating her father's vibrant spirit; from his 'groovy moves' to his beautiful, pure heart and soul.
“Celebrating you today, your graceful, groovy moves, and your beautiful, brilliant heart and soul,” she wrote.
Iza ended her message, joking that her father is delighted in heaven because of the outpouring of love from his loved ones and colleagues.
“P.S. I'm sure kinikilig ka in Heaven because so many people still remember you! Sikat ka pa rin! Ikaw na! Haha! Love you, Daddy!” she said.
