Versatile TV-movie actress Iza Calzado revealed her recent health scare via an Instagram post.

The former Encantadia actress is celebrating her 43rd birthday this month, but before this special event, Iza was diagnosed with bronchitis.

According to my.clevelandclinic.org, bronchitis is when the airways leading to your lungs get inflamed and filled with mucus. You get a nagging cough as your body tries to get rid of the mucus, which can last two or more weeks.

Iza then shared to her IG followers what she learned after getting sick and why it is important for her to make 'better choices' for her health.

"In the middle of it all, I was pushing through work and commitments as we prepared to leave for the UK. Then my body finally gave in. Bronchitis, again. Our flight had to be moved, and we are going to miss a dear friend's wedding in Scotland this Saturday, and I was reminded just how fragile my immune system has been this past year. It's humbling, and honestly a bit defeating at times. But if there's one thing people close to me know, it's that I always try to find the breakthrough in every breakdown.

"Looking back at these photos and videos reminds me of how much I have to be grateful for and why I need to make better choices for my health. There is still so much to live for, so much to celebrate. I hold all of that close to my heart as I work on being in my best health in mind, body and spirit. Viva La Vida!"

Several celebrities commented on Iza's post, including Bianca Gonzalez who reminded her “Love you! And please REST.”

When she is not acting, Iza is a devoted mother to her daughter Deia Amihan, her child with non-showbiz husband Ben Wintle.
