According to several news reports, Jake was training at the Mall of Asia grounds when a big truck suddenly stopped in front of him. The actor didin’t have time to evade the vehicle and slammed into it.

Jake took to Instagram to thank the people who wished him well, especially his fellow cyclists and the security guards who helped him that day.

He posted, “Thank you to everyone who has reached out after hearing about my accident yesterday to my family, fans and friends i just want to say thank you and I love you guys! I am overwhelmed with everyone's concern."

“Also I would like to thank all the cyclist and guards at mall of Asia who helped me out yesterday when the accident happened."

Moreover, Jake revealed that he will undergo surgery this March 17. “I want everyone to know I am okay now and I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday.”

He added that this experience taught him a lot of things, but he will not stop cycling and doing triathlon, which he both loves.

“This experience has definitely thought me a few things but it hasn't discouraged me at all when it comes to cycling and triathlon in fact it has motivated me to comeback even stronger. Thank you for the love guys. Ingat lagi.”
