Patrick's passing is particularly poignant for Scottish actor James McAvoy, who played a younger Professor X in four X-Men films: X-Men: First Class (2011), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), and Dark Phoenix (2019).
Sharing on Instagram some of his lovely moments with the late actor, James wrote, “Wherever you're going I know you'll go boldly…I was lucky enough to work with Sir Patrick a number of times and he was always lovely to me. First as a fan and then as a colleague I count myself lucky to have gone with you for a short time.”
Patrick Stewart died at the age of 86 after succumbing to Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
