After years of winning hearts with her unique voice and raw artistry, singer-songwriter Janine Berdin is finally stepping into a new era with the release of her highly anticipated debut album, Lab Songs Ng Mga Tanga, coming out on September 26, 2025.
Packed with unfiltered stories of love, heartbreak, and healing, the album captures the messy, beautiful, and sometimes painful reality of being, as Janine herself puts it, “stupidly in love.”
"Growing up po, music has always been my best friend. So, when I had no one to talk to about my emotions, there was always a song for whatever I was going through, and I felt less alone.
"Kasi, minsan napapatanong ako kung bakit ako lang yung nakakaramdam ng ganito. But eventually, I found a song, I found music that made me feel less alone. That's what i want to do with my first record album. I wanted to talk about stuff na hindi natin masyadong bini-bring up or nahihiya tayo i-share sa friends natin.
"Ako yung magiging best friend ninyo sa album na 'to. We're all stupid when it comes to love, and it's fine and we should talk about it. We should have fun with it. That's what music is all about. That's Lab Songs Ng Mga Tanga. I hope people resonate with it," said Janine at a press conference held on Sunday, September 14.
Ahead of the big launch, Janine gave fans a taste of what's to come with “Hayup Ka,” a fearless single that dives deep into themes of gaslighting, manipulation, and the strength it takes to walk away from toxic love. With its unapologetic lyrics and Janine's emotive vocals, the track sets the perfect mood for the honest storytelling that runs throughout the record.
When it comes to her songwriting, Janine admitted in a statement that it all comes naturally: “I really write quickly because it's just like words in my head when I'm feeling the thing, it's like word vomit.
She added, “The hardest part was bringing it to life and making sure the music that comes with the message fits perfectly.”
In true Janine fashion, she also dropped a candid TMI about her creative process: “I wrote a lot of songs from this record while I'm in the toilet. That's just TMI--but it's true,” she laughed.
But beyond the music, Janine is all heart for her fans.
“I would really like to thank you na sinasakyan n'yo lahat ng trip ko. This is my first album after being in the industry for seven years. This album is yours. My music is yours. It's ours,” she also said in a statement, showing gratitude to her loyal supporters.
Janine's star continues to rise, especially after being recognized under Spotify's EQUAL Philippines program, which highlights women artists shaping the future of music. This milestone only adds to the growing anticipation for her debut record.
With her fearless honesty and unique edge, Janine Berdin's “Lab Songs Ng Mga Tanga” promises to be a game-changer, cementing her place as one of OPM's most distinctive voices. The album will drop on all major streaming platforms starting September 26, 2025.
