Kapuso stars Janine Gutierrez and Andre Paras are the newest ambassadors of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines.
They’re now in the same list as nature advocates and stewards Piolo Pascual, Rovilson Fernandez, Marc Nelson, Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, Isa Calzado, Luis Manzano, and Zoren, Carmina, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi.
They signed the memorandum of agreement last March 14 at the GMA Network Center, alongside Jose Angelito Palma, WWF-Philippines’ President and CEO.
Beach lover Janine considers the new title as an opportunity to beef up her efforts in taking care of the environment.
“Mahilig talaga ako sa beach, so it’s always been a priority for me kung paano maalagaan 'yung Pilipinas, lalo na’t sobrang ganda ng mga natural resources natin, mga tourist spots natin, so super happy talaga ako that I’m a new ambassador for WWF,” she said.
Andre, meanwhile, is grabbing the opportunity to learn more about nature and use his influence to encourage others to reuse, reduce and recycle.
“I really feel honored and at the same time overwhelmed. At the same time, [I feel like] a student again. There are things that [I’m learning now] that I cannot learn in school… I’m proud kasi I get to learn a lot. I’m proud na I can be a bride to people to help this organization,” he said.
The first event they will attend as ambassadors will be the Earth Hour Philippines’ main switch-off event to be held at the Mall of Asia Complex on March 25.
“[It’s] the biggest worldwide event for environmental conservation and awareness na talaga namang dati pa namin finofollow ni Andre, pero it’s more exiting this year kasi we’re going to be part of the event. [It’s] exciting kasi we get to raise awareness about preserving the environment [and] about conserving energy,” she concluded.
